A Permanent Solution for Your Smile
Dental implants are a long-term solution to missing teeth. They fill the gaps in your smile with beautiful, durable prosthetics, restoring your ability to eat, speak, and laugh without the fear of embarrassment.
Dr. Rowntree wants all of his patients to be proud of their smiles. If you’re missing any number of teeth, give us a call — we can help you live without restriction once again.
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a three-piece prosthetic that Dr. Rowntree places in your jawbone, replacing a missing tooth. While its initial cost is higher than alternative dental restorations, it lasts longer, so it evens out.
The three parts of the implant each have individual jobs.
The Fixture — This part of the implant is surgically placed into your jawbone so that the implant can benefit from its full strength.
The Abutment — Dr. Rowntree will use the abutment to connect the fixture to the crown.
The Crown — The last portion and the only part anybody will see is called a dental crown. This final restoration is made from durable tooth-colored porcelain.
The Benefits of Dental Implants
Missing teeth don’t only hinder your self-esteem — they’re also associated with an array of other issues. For example, the root of your tooth stimulates the jawbone, keeping it healthy. However, the moment you lose a tooth, the jawbone begins to deteriorate. Dental implants reverse jawbone deterioration. Other benefits that we haven’t mentioned include:
- Zero restrictions: Dental implants won’t change your diet. In fact, you can eat all of your favorite foods — especially the ones that you couldn’t eat while you were missing teeth.
- Clear Speech: The dental crown that sits atop the implant functions just like your natural teeth, meaning you’ll have unimpeded speech once again.
- Natural Care: Most dental restorations require special care regimens. However, you can treat dental implants like your natural teeth. As long as you brush twice a day, floss after meals, and visit Dr. Rowntree for routine checkups, your implant will last a very long time.
The Dental Implant Process
The dental implant process begins with a consultation with our Kingwood, TX dentist, Dr. Rowntree. He’ll review your situation and recommend the best restoration for you.
Once Dr. Rowntree has determined that dental implants are the right way to go, we can place the implant. This procedure is a minimally invasive surgery that shouldn’t take any longer than an hour. If you have dental anxiety, ask Dr. Rowntree about dental sedation.
After the implant is secured in your jawbone, you’ll spend the next few weeks healing and letting the bone fuse with the fixture — this process is called osseointegration.
When you arrive for your final appointment, Dr. Rowntree will attach the crown, completing your implant.
